HospitalBillCheck ("we," "us") helps self-pay and uninsured patients review medical bills for common billing and coding errors. This policy explains what we collect and how we handle it. We practice data minimization: we collect only what we need.

What we collect

• Contact & intake info you give us: your email address and the answers to our short questionnaire (whether you're self-pay, whether you have an itemized bill, and an approximate bill size).
• Any bill details you later choose to share with us by email so we can review them.
• Basic technical data: the page that referred you (the full referring URL), any campaign or source tags in the link you arrived through (UTM parameters), and your browser's user-agent string (browser, device, and operating-system type). We use this only to understand where visitors come from and to detect abuse — never to build advertising profiles or to sell.

How we use it

• To review your bill and email you the findings you requested.
• To respond to your questions and improve the service.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
• We do not share your information with hospitals, insurers, debt collectors, or advertisers.

Sharing

We use a small number of service providers only to operate the service — for example, secure database hosting (Supabase) and email — under agreements that limit their use of your data. We may disclose information if required by law.

Health information

We are not a covered entity under HIPAA, but we treat any health-related billing information you share as sensitive: we minimize what we collect, store it securely, and delete bill documents once your review is complete unless you ask us to keep them.

Your choices

You can ask us to access or delete your information at any time by emailing help@hospitalbillcheck.com. If you'd rather not receive our emails, reply "stop" and we'll remove you.
